diverted on Sunday due to deteriorating weather condition, especially incessant rainfall in various parts of the country.
Flights that were cancelled originated in Kathmandu and were destined for Bharatpur, Pokhara, Bhairahawa and Tumlingtar, among others, a source at Tribhuvan International Airport said.
“Some of the mountain flights were also cancelled,” the source informed, adding, “The flights were cancelled because of continuous rainfall and en-route weather condition, especially cloud formation in air routes that reduces visibility.”
Also, three flights to Pokhara had to be diverted because of weather conditions, the source added.
The domestic airport in Kathmandu saw 76 departures and 75 arrivals on Sunday.
In the meantime, Biratnagar airport which is inundated by flood water remained closed on Sunday as well.
“It will remain shut for few more days as certain tests, especially on the runway, have to be conducted even after the water level in the airport comes down,” the source said.
