Anfa hands futsal management to Turnpike

Anfa President Narendra Shrestha and Turnpike Executive Director Ukesh Lohani exchanged the memorandum of understanding on Sunday. As per the agreement, Turnpike will bear two third of the annual budget of futsal and the rest will be borne by the football governing body, Anfa said on Sunday. The deal will run until 2021 with Turnpike set to invest a total of Rs 15 million, while Anfa will spend a collective Rs 7.5 million. Anfa will however will be authorised to choose the broadcaster.
Turnpike will have the rights to lure sponsors and need not share profit with Anfa, said president of Futsal Committee Ramesh Rayamajhi. “The company will also be responsible for marketing and promotion of Futsal events. They will also have the right to chose title sponsor,” added Rayamajhi.
Anfa made the agreement keeping in mind the planned Anfa National Futsal League scheduled for August 25-September 10. Rayamajhi said the proposed futsal league will serve as the selection of national players for the 2018 AFC Futsal Championship Qualifiers to be held in Iran on October 13-22. Nepal are drawn in Group ‘A’ of the Qualifiers along with Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. The winners and runners-up from all eight groups will qualify for AFC Futsal Championship to be held from February 8 to 16 next year.
“All 45 district FAs affiliated to Anfa, futsal centres operated under the legal framework and teams of the A, B and C Division clubs will be eligible to compete in the proposed league,” said Rayamajhi. “Call from team registration was made earlier with the final deadline being today (Sunday). The structure of the league will be determined after finalising the number of teams.”
Rayamajhi also informed that the Futsal Committee have approached former Nepali national captain Rakesh Shrestha to select 25 players for the national team camp. Anfa had already conducted the AFC Futsal Coaching Course Level 1 with 19 coaches earning the licence. Anfa had also conducted MA Futsal Refereeing Course.
The tournament will be organised in the futsal centres requiring a pitch of at least 20x30 metres of area . Anfa has already reached agreement to hold the tournament at Chaur Recreation Futsal Centre in Bansbari and Stupa Futsal Hub in Bauddha.
