Human Resources Society Nepal (HRSN), a non-profit organisation tailored for HR professionals, is set to organise the sixth iteration of the National HR Conference at Soaltee Crowne Plaza on September 12.  Having explored various themes in the past—like ‘Managing People during Crisis’ and ‘Employee Care for Higher Productivity’—this year’s conference is set to be themed ‘HR for tomorrow, trends and transformation.’

Speaking to the Post, Kumar Joshi, President of the HR Society said, “This initiative of a national conference has not only strengthened the HR fraternity but has also promoted the value of this field.” He added, “The past conferences have given us enough opportunities to promote the importance and the need for HR in organisations, but it’s time we focus on its future.”

“This year, we want to focus on the future of HR management, the changing dynamics of workers and different working styles and approaches,” said Amit Sharma, executive member of the HR Society. Sharma mentioned that talent management, human development programmes and employee branding, should be taken seriously and every employee should be well acquainted with these topics. “Self learning should be promoted, employees need to take initiation to educate themselves—this boosts their confidence,” he added.

The sixth iteration of National HR Conference will have two international keynote speakers, a national speaker and several panel discussions.  Among the notables, Sandeep Bidani, who has experience as the head of HR and more than 20 years working in multi-national companies such as IBM, American Express, NDTV Group, among others, will be giving a talk at the conference. Bidani, who is currently the partner at Positive Momentum Limited and founding director of Cognitiv in India, will speak about talent management and bring the new concept of celebrating your mistakes rather than celebrating your success. The other speaker is Colvyn Harris, who served as the CEO-South Asia and Executive Director global growth and Client Development at JWT Thomson. Harris will talk about maintaining brand image among employees.

In the forum, Karmnath Dangol, VP of Engineering at Cloud Factory, will also speak about the future of working cultures in Nepal.

Expecting about 150 to 200 of participants from Nepal this year and few more from India, Prakash Dhakal, executive member of the HR Society said, “We look forward to the participation of entrepreneurs, line managers and few MBA/MBS students.”  Dhakal added the conference would help attendees understand the value, importance and the growing trends in HR in the Nepali context.

“This conference will be a great advantage to those who want to understand HR—its dynamics and practices,” Dhakal added.

The HR National Conference will be held at Soaltee Crowne Plaza on Sept 12. For HR Society members the participation fee is Rs 6,500 and for non-members Rs 7,500. Registration is open on the website: hrsocietynepal.org.
