Kalimaya Karki and Krishnamaya Subedi of Phulek died for want of treatment, Prem Gautam, chairman of Laligurans Municipality-4, said on Friday.
The disease that broke out in the municipality a week ago has downed many people of Musangkhel and Phulek settlements, but the concerned authorities have not responded to the crisis, he added.
The District Health Office (DHO) had not deployed medical teams to the affected areas as of Friday. A DHO officials said that medical officials will reach the affected areas by Saturday. The delay in intervention, he said, was caused due to shortage of medicines to treat viral fever.
Meanwhile, the District Hospital is also struggling to cope with the number of viral fever patients, with more than 145 new cases arriving daily.
Dr Muktinath Shah of the hospital said typhoid and pneumonia were also common among many viral fever patients. Such patients are receiving care at the hospital’s emergency ward.
