Police said some 400 containers of mango pulp, a vital component of the drink, were found to be outdated

Aug 29, 2017-The Metropolitan Police Crime Division has raided Dugad Food and Beverage’s factory in Satungal after finding the company to be using expired ingredients to manufacture its popular mango flavoured drink Frooti.

Police said some 400 containers of totapuri mango pulp, a vital component of the drink, were found to be outdated. Each container weighs 223 kilograms.

“We found the company using expired components to make the drinks,” said SSP Dibesh Lohani, chief of the MPCD. This is the second time this year that Dugad’s godown has been sealed for contamination in the drink. The Supply Management and Consumers’ Rights Protection Department had sealed Dugad’s godown after finding inedible substance in the drinks two months ago.
