Speaking at a press meet in Biratnagar on Monday, Dahal said the PM’s remarks, which came at a time when the amendment process had concluded in Parliament, were inappropriate.
“The amendment process has concluded with participation of the Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal. Constitution is a dynamic process. But it was not necessary to speak about the issue in India,” former prime minister Dahal said.
During a joint press conference with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Thursday, PM Deuba had said he would try again to amend the constitution. His statement was widely criticised by top leaders of several political parties.
On the inclusion of the Koshi agreement in the joint statement, Dahal said he would comment on the High Dam project after discussion with PM Deuba.
In another context, the Maoist chairman said it was unfortunate that the Indian Embassy has not removed its field office from Biratnagar despite the Nepal government’s directive. The government had issued the directive when Maoist leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha was the foreign minister.
