Floods, triggered by incessant rains overnight, wiped out paddy fields at Chhabise and Aathbise of Panchakanya-2. A house, school building were destroyed in the disaster which has also posed risk to the villagers living in the area.
The floodwaters destroyed water pipelines in the Chattisegaun, Ramchegahiro and Belchaur areas, leaving around 2,500 families without clean drinking water. The flood also damaged 13 irrigation canals and eight road sections in the district.
According to the District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee, 392 people have been affected by the recent floods in the district.
Local administration said the floods and landslides destroyed properties worth around Rs100 million.
Chief District Officer Jagadishraj Baral said they are going to provide relief materials immediately to the affected households.
