International conference on physics gets underway
A two-day international conference on Physics of Space and Materials kicked off in the Capital on Saturday.A two-day international conference on Physics of Space and Materials kicked off in the Capital on Saturday.
The meet, organised by the St Xavier’s College, hosts 43 nationally and internationally recognised physicists. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Fr Jiju Varghese, principal at St Xavier’s College, said the conference will be providing abundant opportunities to discuss and understand numerous phenomena of physics.
The organisers claim that the event is the first ever organised by the non-governmental sector in Nepal.
The event was chaired by Jiba Raj Pokharel, vice-chancellor at the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology.
Two professors from Korea, one from Bangladesh and two from India are attending the event. The conference that ends on Sunday discusses topics such as astrophysics, atmosphere, ionosphere, thermosphere, biomedical applications, computational physics, geophysics, material science, nanotechnology and space technology.
