‘Working to formulate media-friendly policies’

Visiting the Thapathali-based office of the Kantipur Publications on Tuesday, Minister Basnet said the ministry would go ahead with the policy through discussion with stakeholders and cooperation with them.
He promised to resolve the issues facing the media sector in consultation with them. The government would provide the media opportunity to correct their mistakes while making the monitoring process more effective, the minister said.
Chairman and Managing Director of Kantipur Media Group Kailash Sirohiya said the minister should not focus only on the telecommunication sector but should become the guardian of the country’s media sector. “We are ready to move ahead hand in hand for all the changes including implementation of the new constitution,” Sirohiya said.

Post Akhilesh Upadhyay, Editor-in-Chief of Kantipur Television Dil Bhusan Pathak and Pawan Acharya of Radio Kantipur urged the minister to discuss matters with stakeholders instead of imposing policies on them.
