Yomari Sessions is a musical series that covers over half a dozen local bands and artists performing at least three songs in a single session. Each Yomari Sessions video is a live one-take recording, where musicians perform an improvised version of their original songs at various locations of the Valley.
This season kicked off with MiKu (Mitho Kura) band and their self-titled song—MiKu, which was shot in the Uma Maheshwor premises of Kirtipur.
“The sessions try to promote authenticity with assorted local musicians. The videos try to emulate the rawness of a live musical performance to provide an intimate and immersive experience for the viewers,” say the organisers.
Speaking about the series, Kobid Bajra (sarangi) from the band MiKu said, “Being a part of this series has been a really good experience that comes with good exposure for artists like us.” He added, “Artists often need to launch an album or organise the programme themselves to reach out to an audience, but these sessions provide us with an opportunity to give an improvised performance and reach out a huge mass through YouTube. (This is what we needed).”
The second season features musical ensembles such as Pahelo Batti Muni, MiKu, Manda:, Space, and Night, among others. A new song by every artist will be released each week.
The first season included Shreeti and Baaja, Stairs of Cirith, Flekke, Sakchyam, and Abhyu.
