The defeat leaves Nepal on three points after two matches while Bangladesh join India on top of the five-team standings with six points. India, however, have a game in hand over Bangladesh in the round robin league event. Nepal had recorded a comfortable a 96-38 win over Bhutan on Wednesday.
Despite taking healthy lead in the first and third quarters, the home team slumped heavily in the deciding fourth. Nepal won the first quarter 22-10 but the advantage was cut short to just one point at half-way stage when Bangladesh scored 21 conceding 10 in the second quarter.
Nepal extended their lead to five points at the end of the third period, scoring 14 against the 10 from Bangladesh. But the hosts faltered conceding 27 and scored only 11 points in the final quarter. Abhishek Singh netted 23 points for Nepal and Tanbir Prodhan top scored with 18 points for Bangladesh.
In the first match of the day, Bhutan hammered Maldives 63-54. Bhutan have three points from as many matches while Maldives remained winless after two games. Tshering Deujor scored 17 points for Bhutan. Nepal will take on tournament favourites India and Bangladesh meet Maldives on Friday.
