The local administration had banned traffic flow on the section from 5pm to 5am since July after assessing “high risk” to ply vehicles at night.
Shiva Khanal, an engineer, said vehicles will be able to cross the road section within two hours. He said buses will be prioritised for passage.
Only 55 percent of the road widening works has been over so far. On Tuesday, Minister of State for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Sita Gurung inspected the road section and directed project officials and the construction company to ease vehicular movement for the important occasions. Superintendent of Police Deepak Thapa said the flow of vehicles has increased on the route. “Around 10,000 vehicles are plying the road on a daily basis,” he said, adding that a rapid response team had been mobilised to ease traffic.
