Rain-damaged rural roads left unrepaired
Sep 14, 2017-Authorities concerned are yet to repair the rural roads that were damaged by monsoon rains in Dhading district.
The roads that link places like Salyantar, Katunje, Sunaula Bazar, Dhuwakot, Maidi and Chainpur with the district headquarters, Dhadingbesi, were severely damaged by rains and
landslides. Vehicular movement has been obstructed for the past four months.
People have been forced to walk several hours, even days, to reach their destinations as a result.
Transportation of food and other essentials has also been affected.
Phanikant Chhatkuli, the former chairman of then Salyantar VDC, said the roads in the region hundreds of thousands of rupees were being spent every year to repair the roads, but their conditions have not improved.
