NC, UML cadres clash
The activists of Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML clashed at Aukara in Nagarain Municipality-8, Dhanusha, on Saturday night.The activists of Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML clashed at Aukara in Nagarain Municipality-8, Dhanusha, on Saturday night. Two UML cadres were injured in the clash. The two parties have blamed one another for the attack.
It is learnt that the clash ensued over the issue of the local level elections taking place on Monday.According to the District Police Office, Indra Kumar Pasawan, 21, and Arbindra Pasawan, 43, were injured in the incident.
They are receiving treatment at Janakpur Zonal Hospital.The injured duo accused the NC activists, including the party’s mayoral candidate Parameshwor Yadav and his sons Mahendra Yadav and Kashindra Yadav, of attacking them.
The NC district committee claimed that the clash broke out after a gang tried to vandalise Parameshwor’s house.Superintendent of Police Chakra Bahadur Singh said they were investigating into the incident.
Third gender charge poll body with discrimination
MAHOTTARI: The third gender community in Mahottari has complained that the election authority did not categorise them under the third gender while updating the electoral roll. Rambaran Yadav, the programme coordinator of Jaleshwor-based Blue Diamond Society, said that there are around 5,000 third gender people in Mahottari district, but the election office did not recognise their identity. As per the district election office, only a 31-year-old person from Bardibas-8 has been categorised as third gender in the district. Yadav, however, claimed that the third gender people in the district were not identified as third genders in their voter ID cards, though they had clearly stated their gender registration.
CC camera at vote counting centres
BARA: The local administration has installed CC cameras at vote counting centres in all 16 local units in Bara to avert untoward incidents. Chief election officer Ritendra Thapa said all necessary preparations were completed in the district to hold the elections in a free and fair manner. There are 458 polling centres in Bara, which has 334,746 registered voters.
Girl injured in blast
SARLAHI: A 10-year-old girl sustained injuries when an unidentified group detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at Balara Municipality-2 in Sarlahi on Sunday. Rasmita Sahani sustained minor injuries in the explosion, said police. The explosive went off when the victim picked up an unclaimed bag containing the IED. Three other IEDs were also recovered from the scene. They were defused by a Nepal Army team.
