Three killed, 18 injured as bus veers off road

At least three people died and 18 others were injured when a passenger bus met with an accident at Bititar of Ramechhap Municipality in Ramechhap district on Friday.

According to the District Police Office, the ill-fated bus (Ba 2 Kha 6375), en route from Chyasuk of Ramechhap to Kathmandu, fell some 30 meters from the road in Bititar, killing two on the spot. Another seriously injured died while being rushed to the hospital. Police said the accident occurred as the speeding bus lost control at a sharp bend. 

Police have identified the deceased as Dipak Shrestha, 55, of Ramechhap -8, Uma Khadka, 25, of Bajhang and Bal Kumari Basnet, 26, of Ramechhap -7. Inspector Raj Kumar Thapa said the injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Manthali. Four people, whose condition is said to be critical, have been taken to Kathmandu for further treatment, he said.
