Miss Sherpa pageant revived
Sep 27, 2017-
After a five-year hiatus, the Miss Sherpa pageant—one of the many indigenous pageants organised around the country—is set to return this year. Under the stewardship of organisers, D-Pass International, auditions are slated to take place in five districts after the festive season.
Organising a press meet in the Capital on Monday, the announcement of the reboot of the pageant was made by Ang Dorjee Sherpa, the president of the Nepal Sherpa Association. Following a district-wise competition, the gala finale is set to take place at the Hyaat Regency in the Capital on Dec 8, the organisers revealed.
Speaking at the event, Dorjee Sherpa, said, “Beyond just a beauty pageant, Miss Sherpa 2017 will be a great platform to showcase the Sherpa culture and heritage and we hope will be a building block to ensuring our traditions remain alive and relevant to the younger generation.”
This will be the fourth iteration of the pageant which has remained suspended since 2012.
