NC, UML pick candidates in Manang
Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML have recommended their candidates unanimously for the upcoming federal and provincial elections in Manang. NC lawmaker Tek Bahadur Gurung and district chairman of UML Palden Chhopang Gurung have been recommended for the first-past-the-post (FPTP) in the federal election.
NC’s Chinta Bahadur Ghale and Dorje Dhandul Gurung of the UML have been recommended for Provincial Constituency-1 under the FPTP. Similarly, NC’s Karma Gurung and Rajib Gurung, aka Deepak Manage of the UML have been recommended unanimously for Provincial Constituency-2 under the FPTP.
Under the proportional representation (PR), the NC has recommended Karma Ghale for the federal election and Sangdo Lama for Provincial Constituency-1. The party has picked Sagar Gurung and Chhiringongma Ghale for Provincial Constituency-2.
The UML has recommended Pasang Bista, Yangdung Gurung, Mangal Bahadur Gurung, Uten Gurung, Narendra Ghale, Ratnakumari Gurung and Nanda Gurung under the PR category.
The government has announced to hold the provincial and federal elections in two phases on November 26 and December 7. There are around 6,000 voters in Manang. The UML had won in Nesyang Rural Municipality and Chame Rural Municipality during the local level elections, whereas the NC claimed wins in Nasong Rural Municipality and Narphu Rural Municipality.
