NC President Deuba welcomes Akhanda Party Chairman Kumar Khadka and other leaders

Oct 16, 2017-The Akhanda Party-Nepal has merged with the Nepali Congress on Sunday amid a function at Baluwatara.

NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba formally welcomed Akhanda party Chairman Kumar Khadka and other leaders during the unification between the two parties.

On the occasion, Deuba insisted that the unity among the “democratic” forces would safeguard the democratic norms and values. He warned that a totalitarian force may usurp the achievements made so far and govern the country if democratic forces remained divided.

Khadka said that the democratic forces should be united at a time when the communist forces are coming together and posing a threat to democracy.  NC leaders Ram Chandra Poudel and Krishna Prasad Sitaula, among others were on hand to welcome the Akhanda party leaders.

Khadka, who was elected to the Second Constituent Assembly through the proportional representation seat, was the Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare.

As per the deal between the two parties, the NC has agreed to give a respectful position to the Akhanda leaders—both in the party and upcoming elections, Khadka said.
