With just two more episodes of the show remaining, the 16th episode, which aired this week, saw a lot of final acts for the series. Just the top five contestants remained competing for the first-ever Roadie title, and this episode saw the final “money task”, the final “immunity challenge” and the last “vote out” for this year.
In the final “money task” for season one, the five contestants—split into two teams—had the opportunity to rake in an additional Rs 300,000 into the money-pot through a fairly elementary quiz contest.
With one question worth Rs 10,000, and 30 questions asked, the Roadies however were only able to add Rs 60,000 to their purse. This now brings the total to Rs 880,000 (from a possible Rs 2,000,000) that the eventual Himalaya Roadie will walk away with.
Next, in the final “immunity challenge”, the viewers were treated to the last watery obstacle course for the season. Negotiating a pond filled with obstacles, collecting flags in a wobbly makeshift raft, eventually Saman Shrestha was able to win immunity from the final vote out by putting in the best time. When the eventual vote out did take place, Suzana Shrestha—a firm favourite to go all the way in the completion—was voted out.
This leaves just four aspiring Roadies—Saman Shrestha, Ranjana Bhattarai, Sudit Shrestha and Animesh Sahi—in the competition. The four remaining Roadies will, over the next two episodes, be put through various tasks and challenges, which are yet to be revealed, before one champion emerges. With the contestants having been through so many ups and downs, intrigue and vote-outs, over the last three months, it is anyone’s guess who the first ever Himalaya Roadie will be.
Himalaya Roadies is the Nepali edition of the popular Indian reality TV show MTV Roadies. Licensed for Nepal by Via Com 18, the show will run the length of 18 episodes.
