Dr KC has said that he will not end his fast unless the government passes the legislation. “I’m just asking for endorsement of a bill that will improve the current status of medical education in the country. Am I wrong?” questioned Dr KC.
Representatives of Dr KC and the government’s talks team failed to meet on Tuesday after the former demanded an ordinance. Representatives of Dr KC conveyed to the government team that the fasting doctor would not end his strike until the HPE bill is endorsed.
Dr KC began his 13th hunger strike on October 5 with a four-point demand that includes endorsement of the bill by incorporating suggestions from experts. This includes a 10-year moratorium on the establishment of new medical colleges in Kathmandu Valley.
Dr KC has also demanded that all medical schools should comply with the fee structure set by the government. Besides, the crusader has asked for an investigation into the embezzlement of billions of rupees by Nepal Oil Corporation chief Gopal Bahadur Khadka.
