As reported by Daniel Panjwaneey, the spear header of the festival, the 10-day fest is twice as big as last year’s installment.
The festival that brings artists from Nepal, Pakistan, Maldives, India, France, Germany, and Italy, will feature original content from the musicians along with several collaborative works. According to the organisers, “Sine Valley can be characterised as a kind of electro cult, which connects handpicked artists from different worlds to unify their distinct musical styles, techniques, technology, and art in the spirit of collective creation.”
“This past week all the artists performing at the festival have come together to create several collaborative musical pieces,” informs Panjwaneey.
When Panjwaneey, who is originally from Pakistan, first came to Kathmandu five years ago, he realised that the Valley was the ideal location to bring South Asian artists for a collaborative project. Panjwanney cites Nepal’s painless visa procedure and ever helpful Nepali musicians as the factors that led him to choose Kathmandu as the location for the festival.
The fest, along with live music, will also feature DJ sets as well as panel talks and master classes by the artists. The classes will delve into a range of subjects, such as analogue synthesis, production techniques and festival design. The festival will conclude on October 29.
