The leftist alliance of the CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Centre) has almost finalised seat-sharing for the upcoming provincial and federal elections, party leaders engaged in choosing the candidates have said.
Seat allocation between the two parties was expected to be over on Wednesday. A meeting of the taskforce was close to consensus on Thursday on the seat ratio for both the parties, a member said. The team has notified the disputed constituencies to the chairmen of their parties for discussion.
UML Chairman KP Oli and Maoist Centre chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal will finalise the arrangements. The Maoists are likely to get 56 out of the 165 first-past-the-post seats of federal parliament.
