Quake-hit school gets new building

Muktimarga Higher Secondary School at Ghar Village in Annapurna Municipality-6, Myagdi, has completed the construction of a new earthquake-resilient and disabled-friendly building with the funds provided by the District Education Office (DEO), local organisations and individual donors.
It took Rs 11.5 million to construct the eight-room building has been constructed on a land that was bought with Rs 1.6 million donated by the father-son duo Tika Bahadur Khadka and Dev Bahadur Khadka from the same village, said Gokul Baruwal, chairman of the school management committee.
The DEO had provided Rs 6 million for the school building construction. The school had also received Rs 1.67 million from the Germany-based organisation, Himalayan Friendship and Rs 500,000. A Mahayagya was also organised that raised Rs 400,000.
