Regmi named new chief secy
The government on Monday promoted Home Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi to the post of chief secretary. Regmi, who has already served in various ministries including home, finance and land reform and management, has been the home secretary for more than a year. Shankar Adhikari and Naiendra Upadhya were also in the race for the top administrative post. Regmi is considered close to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
After a brief service at the Ministry of Finance, he was transferred to the Ministry of Home during the Pushpa Kamal Dahal government on September 2 last year. Adhikari has been sent to the Ministry of Finance and Upadhya to the Public Service Commission. Mohan Krishna Sapkota, incumbent secretary at the Ministry of General Administration, will replace Regmi as the new home secretary. The Cabinet also transferred some other secretaries. Reshmi Raj Pandey will replace Sapkota as the new secretary at the General Administration Ministry. Yubak Dhowj GC has been sent to the Ministry of Forest from the Ministry of Livestock where Prakash Mathema has been brought from the Ministry of Forest.
