‘Ballot printing for PR system nearly over’

The EC had started printing ballot papers for federal and provincial elections under the proportional election system since October 3. It had ordered printing of 17.2 million ballot papers to Janak Siksha Samagri Kendra (JSSK).
“With about 15 million ballot papers already printed as of Tuesday, we expect the remaining ballot papers to be out by Thursday” said EC Spokesperson Nawaraj Dhakal.
According to EC, the JSSK has been using seven machines to print 1.2million ballot papers per day.
Dhakal said that they would start delivering the ballot papers to the District Election Offices soon after the printing is completed.
The EC also plans to start printing ballot papers for the first past the post (FPTP) system soon after the election symbols have been allocated to the candidates on Wednesday. The EC will have to print equivalent number of ballot papers for elections under FPTP system.
