Four female candidates are contesting the upcoming federal and provincial polls under first-past-the-post (FPTP) system in Kailali.
Three women candidates registered their candidacies for the federal parliament in Kailali constituencies 1, 2 and 5, while the other field her nomination paper for the provincial election from Kailali-5 (B).
Nepali Congress (NC) fielded three candidates in Kailali. NC leader Arzu Rana Deuba, also the wife of NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, has registered her nomination from Kailal-5. Arzu is contesting the election against CPN-UML leader Naradmuni Rana.
NC candidate Ishwori Neupane and UML’s Garima Shah are in the race in Kailali-1. Another NC female candidate Jiban Rana is contesting for a provincial assembly seat from Kailali-5 (B). All three were the members of the last Constituent Assembly under the proportional representation (PR) system. After filing her nomination, Arzu said she is committed to the development of the entire farwestern region, along with her election constituency.
