The concert will feature Indian artists such as Shantanu Moitra, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Ashwin Shrinivasan and Purbayak Chatergee, among others.
Speaking during a press meet organised at Nepal Tourism Board, Ani Choying Drolma, one of the leads of Songs of the Himalayas in Nepal, said that the idea for the concert in Nepal came about after her conversation with the senior Indian music director Moitra.
Songs of the Himalayas is a concert series featuring an ensemble of Indian musicians, where Moitra performs his musical translations of the experience from his travel to South Asian countries like Bhutan, Nepal, and India.
“I find Shnatanu’s music peaceful and pleasant. After I got to listen to the band in India, I found a deep connection to it. And since I also hail from a Himalayan country, I thought it would be wonderful if we could provide a platform for Nepali music enthusiasts to listen to the Songs of the Himalayas,” Dolma said speaking at the meet.
Dolma also said that Phool ko Aankhama, her most popular song, is in line to be translated into Hindi and to be presented to Indian audience.
The Nepali edition of Songs of the Himalayas is being organised jointly by Nepal Tourism Board and Ani Choying Drolma.
