DEO officials said the voting centres have been added at Mahendra Ratna Secondary School in Baranja of Mangala Rural Municipality, Mangala Campus in Babiyachaur, Dhaulagiri Secondary School in Singha and Gyanodaya Secondary School in Mauwaphant of Raghuganga Rural Municipality, taking the total number of polling centres in the area to six. Despite the addition of four voting centres in the district, people living in remote parts of Mudi Bagara and Simkosh in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-3 will have to trek for more than six hours to reach Buddhibikash Secondary School—the nearest voting centre—to cast their ballots. “The elderly and physically challenged people cannot walk for a whole day,” said Hari Tilija of Mudi Bagara, requesting the concerned authority to set up a voting centre in their village.
