Dhada Gaun, located 35 kilometres from Kathmandu, is a small village in Kavre, just beyond the popular tourist hub of Nagarkot. Famous for its sunrise view, the village is sparsely populated, with the residents predominantly from the Tamang, Sherpa, and Bishwakarma communities. The residents in this little settlement still live a rather simple lifestyle, uncontaminated by the commercial pushes and pulls of the neighbouring hilltop mushrooming with hotels and restaurants.
Because of its limited road access, even though Dhada Gaun is located in the outskirts of the Valley, it is yet to be ‘discovered’ by Kathmandu’s bike-borne adventurers. But, if you do manage to make an adventurous detour to this beautiful village, you’ll agree that Dhada Gaun is as scenic and serene as any of Kathmandu’s famed vantage points.
