8 killed, 34 wounded in road accidents

At least eight people died in separate road accidents in Kailali and Dang districts on Saturday and Sunday.
Thirty-four people were injured, some seriously, in the incidents.
Three persons died when a passenger bus met with an accident at Chure Rural Municipality-3 along Bhimdutta Highway in Kailali district on Sunday morning. The bus (Na 7 Kha 2723) skidded off the road and fell some 100 metres down the road at around 5 am. The bus was heading to Mahendranagar from Melauli in Baitadi
Police said that Jhunti Devi Chand, 64, of Shivanath Rural Municipality in Baitadi; Kabita Tiwari, 24, of Pancheshwor Rural Municipality-4 in Baitadi; and Rewati Bhat, whose address could not be ascertained, were killed in the crash.
Twenty-four others were injured. Two seriously wounded passengers were taken to Haldawani in India for treatment. The remaining injured were admitted to a hospital in Attariya.
In Kailali, a police head constable was killed in a motorcycle accident at Gauriganga in Kailali on Saturday night. Police said Gajendra Singh Thagunna a head constable at Rajipur Police Post, Kailali, was killed when his motorcycle crashed into an oncoming car.
Lalita Joshi, 35, of Budi Ganga Municipality in Bajura and Pradeep Chaudhary,
21, of Kailali also died in separate road accidents the same night.
In Dang, two persons died and 10 others sustained injuries when a car collided head-on with a truck at Deukhuri on Sunday morning. Police identified the deceased as Rampati Chaudhary and Gita Basyal of Rapti Rural Municipality-5.
