DPM Thapa, who chairs the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, is contesting from Makwanpur-1 for the federal parliamentary seat. The EC has asked him to furnish clarification within 24 hours.
Issuing a letter to DPM Thapa, the EC questioned why he should not face action for violating the election code of conduct. The Election Code of Conduct Central Monitoring Committee of the EC took the decision on Friday.
RPP Spokesperson Mohan Shrestha said the material posted before the silence period commenced was displayed later.
The Election Code of Conduct (third amendment-2017) restricts canvassing and publicity by candidates and parties even on social and electronic media such as SMS, Facebook and Viber within three days before polling.
