The Department of Transport Management is set to buy 40 vehicle emission testing devices as part of the government’s plan to control air pollution level in major city areas including the Kathmandu Valley.The Department of Transport Management is set to buy 40 vehicle emission testing devices as part of the government’s plan to control air pollution level in major city areas including the Kathmandu Valley.
The decision to buy vehicle emission testing devices was taken by the meeting,
which was chaired by Mahendra Man Gurung, secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), on Tuesday.
The meeting also decided to revise emission standard, conduct regular emission test of vehicles and issue green stickers to vehicles that pass the test, among others, said a statement issued by the OPMCM.
The government has recently formed a Quick Action Team to address the problem of air pollution in major city areas of the country.
