The election institutionalises and strengthens hard-earned political achievements, NC President and PM Deuba said in a statement after the polls concluded on Thursday evening.
The PM stressed that the polls would strengthen the political achievements brought about by decades of relentless struggle for democracy and people’s hard work and sacrifices.
The polls have laid a strong foundation for creation of a prosperous Nepal with “inclusive democracy, sovereign people’s republic and democratic socialism based on social justice and equality”.
“The polls will also prove to be the foundation stone for ensuring good governance and economic prosperity,” the PM said, adding that people’s support had encouraged the government and the political parties to go to the polls.
The PM also thanked the Election Commission, civil servants, security bodies, political parties, journalists, national and international observers and voters for the successful polls.
Deuba returns to Capital after voting
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba cast his vote at Ruwakhola in Ganyapdhura Rural Municipality-1 on Thursday.
The Nepali Congress president, who is running for the federal parliamentary seat from his home district Dadedhura, exercised his franchise at the Asigram Secondary School polling centre at around 10:30am.
Deuba had reached the polling centre on a helicopter that landed nearby. He returned to the Capital soon after casting his vote.
Deuba’s rival and left alliance candidate Khagaraj Bhatta cast his ballot from the Chipur-based Sub-Health Post polling station at Ajayameru Rural Municipality-4.
Dahal casts his vote in Bharatpur-14
CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal cast his vote
at Shantipur Basic School in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-14. The Maoist Centre chief is vying for a federal parliament seat from Chitwan -3. In a brief response to the Post after casting his vote, Dahal said the CPN-UML and his Maoist party would be unified soon.
