Three federal parliament election candidates were unable to vote for themselves in Jhapa district.
Left alliance candidate for Jhapa-1 Ram Karki did not cast his vote in the second-phase polls on Thursday as he was listed as a voter in Kathmandu Constituency-1.
Karki, a leader of the CPN (Maoist Centre), said he could not go to Kathmandu to vote as he had to visit his constituency on the polling day.
Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula, a candidate for the Jhapa-3 seat, cast his vote at the Kalwalgudi Primary School centre in Bhadrapur-10. Sitaula could not vote for himself as he is a resident of Jhapa-1. CPN-UML chairman KP Sharma Oli, the left alliance candidate in Jhapa-5, cast his vote from Suryabinayak Municiplaity-2 in Balkot, Bhaktapur, where he lives. Originally from Jhapa, Oli has been casting his ballot from Bhaktapur for the last few elections. Chief Election Officer Khilnath Regmi said voter turnout in Jhapa was 65 percent.
