Preparations on a full swing for first meetings

With the successful conduct of the elections for federal parliament and provincial assemblies, the Legislature-Parliament Secretariat has said preparations are in a full swing to stage their meetings.
Secretariat Spokesperson Bharatraj Gautam told the RSS on Sunday that as per the constitutional provision, a federal parliament secretariat is required to run the
activities of the federal parliament.
Within the federal parliament secretariat, there will be separate secretariats for the House of Representatives and National Assembly The halls for holding the meetings are getting a facelift and the tender for equipment purchase has been issued, Gautam said.
The meeting of the House of Representatives should be summoned within a month and the meetings of provincial assemblies within 20 days of the final result of vote count.
According to Gautam, the new federal set-up will require buildings for each provincial assembly, parliamentary party office, secretariat building, offices for different parliamentary committees and a library for each provincial assembly.
The federal government should deploy the officials required for the provincial assemblies.
The seven provincial assemblies are expected to require a total of 350 officials.
The meeting of the federal parliament will be held at the ICC Hall, which was also the venue for the Constituent Assembly.
The venue for the province assemblies would be prepared after the government announces the provincial capitals, Gautam said.
The annual expenses for the operation of federal parliament is estimated to be
Rs 2.55 billion.
