Bhandari, Chunara win gold for TAC

Bhandari beat clubmate Mausam Karki in women’s 73kg final while Apsara Karki of APF Club and Karuna Shrestha of Sallaghari took home bronze. Chunara overcame Shiwani Shrestha of Lalitpur in the 62kg final. Mandira Karki of TAC and Anita Ghale of Dhading were joint bronze medallists.
The 46kg bout saw Rejina Kakri of Nepal Police Club (NPC), a national team member, win gold Barsa Thapa of APF in the final. Sangita Shrestha of APF and Kushmani Ghale of TAC were restricted to bronze. The 49kg gold went to TAC’s Kajal Shrestha who eased to a victory over Ashmita Khadka of APF. Kalpana Chaudhary and Binika Joshi of TAC were the losing semi-finalists.
In the 53kg final, Nima Gurung of NPC beat Dikshya Karki of Lalitpur. Sita Tamang of NPC beat Namrata Tuladhar of TAC to claim 57kg gold. Reshma Thapa of TAC and Gita Bista of APF won bronze. In an all-APF fclash in 67kg, Sangita Basyal got the better of Anumaya Tamang. Pujan Bista of TAC and Deepika Nagarkoti of Lalitpur got bronze.
Manoj Malla of NPC and Chandra Rana Magar of APF set the senior men’s 54kg final clash winning their respective semi-final matches. In junior men’s 42kg section, Bidhan Shrestha of Sitapaila, Sri Krishna Karki of Koteshwor entered the semi-finals. Pujan Khadka of United and Dinesh Bahadur Saud of Koteshwor reached last four in 45kg.
The event is jointly organised by Nepal Taekwondo Association and South Korean Embassy in Nepal.
