Fuel dearer by Re1 per litre
The Nepal Oil Corporation has hiked the prices of petrol, diesel and kerosene by Re1 per litre, effective from Tuesday midnight. Despite the revision in prices, the NOC’s projected monthly loss stands at Rs227.8 million.
NOC Spokesperson Birendra Kumar Goit said the enterprise had revised the price in accordance with the new price list sent by the Indian Oil Corporation. “The Indian oil supplier has raised the price citing the fuel price rise in the international market,” Goit said.
According to the NOC, the price of crude oil hit $63.41 per barrel in the international market on Tuesday.
This is the second time in two weeks that the state-owned enterprise has hiked the prices of petroleum products. The oil monopoly last increased fuel prices on December 8. At that time, petrol price was raised by Rs2 per litre, diesel and
kerosene prices were increased by Rs3 a litre each while cooking gas had become dearer by Rs25 per cylinder.
