Left bloc leaders ask PM Deuba to resign
Left alliance leaders from the CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Centre) have demanded immediate resignation of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.Left alliance leaders from the CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Centre) have demanded immediate resignation of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Speaking at an interaction organised by the Reporters’ Club in the Capital on Tuesday, Maoist Centre leader and former deputy prime minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi said PM Deuba should resign on moral ground respecting the people’s mandate as the left alliance has mustered a near two-thirds majority in the recently held federal parliamentary and provincial assembly elections.
Stressing economic prosperity as the need of the hour, Rayamajhi demanded coordination, unity and cooperation among all the political parties. He suggested that the parties should find a middle path to clear the ordinance on National Assembly rather than argue for the majority system or the single transferable voting system. “The issue should be resolved in consensus,” said Rayamajhi.
Speaking on the occasion, UML leader Mahesh Basnet said that the ordinance presented to President Bidya Devi Bhandari was against the people’s mandate. (PR)
