Nepal Police AIG Madhu Pudasaine said they were working on a new security plan with the federal set-up in mind.
“Province-centric security plan is an entirely new thing for us. But it is indispensable since the country has adopted federal set-up,” he said.
Senior security officials in the province have also requested the police headquarters to supply additional human resources for the protection of state ministers, key officials in the state parliament, high ranking state agency officials and state government buildings, among others.
AIG Pudasaine suggested that a separate state security apparatus could also be formed in Province 5 to look after the matters related to law enforcement, civilian protection and safety of top officials.
“We have proposed forming a separate police battalion comprising around 1,500 security personnel,” he said.
