Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli has expressed confidence that the upcoming government would pay attention to making the judiciary stronger.
Speaking at a programme organised by the Office of Attorney General in the Capital on Sunday on the occasion of its 67th Establishment Day, Parajuli said.
“The judiciary is not a place for providing jobs to and appointing one’s people. It is guided by its own norms and values. My focus is on running the judiciary in an uninterrupted manner as per these norms and values.”
He also pointed out the need of concerted efforts for further bolstering the public faith in the judiciary.
The Chief Justice expressed belief that the seven High Courts could dispense
justice efficiently in the seven provinces, adding that the maximum use of information technology has been made to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services.
He also called on the government to allocate adequate budget for further streamlining the judiciary.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Yagya Bahadur Thapa underlined an important role of government advocates to help strengthen the judicial system and deliver efficient judicial service.
The government would help the Office of Attorney General to carry out its responsibility, Minister Thapa said.
On the occasion, Inspector General of Police Prakash Aryal stressed the need for further strengthening cooperation between police and the government advocates to increase people’s faith in criminal justice system.
