Fertilizer shortage worries farmers
Dec 29, 2017-
Fertilizer shortage has become a cause for concern for Siraha farmers preparing for wheat plantation.
Farmers from rural part of the district have been visiting the fertilizer depot in Lahan on a daily basis only to return empty-handed.
There is a shortage of Diammonium phosphate (DAP) and urea fertilizers in the district.
Mohammed Mastikim, a farmer from Govindapur, said without the fertilizers he will be forced to leave the field fallow. Chandra Prasad Chaulagain of Agriculture Inputs Company in Lahan said they did not have enough supply of fertilizers to meet the farmers’ demand.
Since October 18, Chaulagain said, the company has already dispatched 7,500 sacks of urea fertilizer and 12,217 sacks of DAP fertilizers to Lahan depot.
