Jan 5, 2018-
Student and youth wings close to the Left Alliance, of CPN (UML) and the CPN (Maoist Centre), has demanded immediate withdrawal of fuel price hike.
They submitted a memorandum of their demand to Sushil Bhattarai, the officiating general manager of Nepal Oil Corporation in the Capital on Thursday.
The agitating students and youths have been staging protests in Kathmandu, saying that the fuel price was increased at a time when the government, led by Nepali Congress’s Sher Bahadur Deuba, was in a transition phase.
The state-owned oil monopoly had revised the price of petroleum products on January 1. As per the new rate, LPG cylinder is dearer by Rs 25 and aviation fuel by Rs 3 per litre. The prices of petrol and diesel have been adjusted to Rs 102 per litre and Rs 79 per litre.
