Far Western make it to Super League

Police, already assured of their place in the next rounds, registered a 5-0 win over Eastern Region. Far Western Region earn a hard fought 1-0 win over Central Region to join them in Super League as Group ‘A’ runners-up. The results meant Police finish the preliminary league with maximum nine points. Far Western ended up in second with six points, three ahead of Central Region. Kiran Chaudhary netted an early seventh minute goal for Far Western and protected it until the end.
Nirmala BK scored a hat-trick for Police in their comfortable win over Eastern Region. BK put NPC ahead early as in the fourth minute before adding second in the 15th. BK completed hat-trick three minutes before the interval. Niru Thapa added a brace in the 77th and 90th minute to seal the victory.
Mid Western will take on Western and Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club will vie with Tribhuvan Army Club in Group ‘B’ matches on Friday. The departmental teams have already made it to the Super League and the results will only determine the group winners.
Karki, Giri win fencing gold
Nepal APF Club’s Anita Karki won the women’s and Jung Giri claimed the men’s eppe gold medals during the third National Fencing Championships under National Sports Council Championships on Thursday. Indira Paudel of Tribhuvan Army Club won silver in women’s category. Sita Pathak of Army and Januka Syangtan of APF shared the bronze medals. Dipendra Bista of Army took silver in the men’s section finishing ahead of club-mate Sagar KC and Rajendra Shrestha of APF. (PR)
