The Naya Shakti Party Nepal has concluded that it faced a debacle in the parliamentary and provincial elections held on November 26 and December 7 due to the failure to take its agendas effectively to the people.

Failure to attract people with its policies was the main reason behind the party’s poor showing, concluded a three-day meeting of the General Convention Organising Committee held in Kaski.

The party said that political polarisation and the fiasco over forging an electoral alliance with the CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Centre) were to blame for Naya Shakti’s defeat in the polls, party coordinator Baburam Bhattarai said in a statement on Thursday.

The new party has won three provincial assembly seats and one in House of Representatives. The party has decided to raise the issue of directly elected executive president strongly.
