In Dhankuta, the protest for capitalhood entered its third day on Friday. The people of Dhankuta Bazaar have enforced an indefinite banda from Wednesday, demanding that the town should be designated the capital of Province 1.
The ongoing banda has greatly affected the daily life. Passengers have been hit hard as transportation service is shut for the last three days.
In Doti, people have been protesting for the last 10 days, demanding that the district headquarters of Dipayal should be named the capital of Province 7. Transportation service, schools, businesses and organisations are closed for the last three days.
In Parsa, a group of people has started a relay hunger strike at Ghantaghar Chowk in Birgunj to press their demand of declaring Birgunj city the capital of Province 2. Among the people participating in the strike are local cadres of major political parties and social activists.
