Jajarkot viral fever toll climbs to 13

Three more people died of viral fever in Junichande Rural Municipality of Jajarkot district on Tuesday, raising the death toll to 13 in the past three weeks.
Lal Bahadur Bhandari, 54, of Junichande-3; Nabin Nath, 2, of Junichnade-2; and Kalu Tiruwa, 65, of Junichande-5 died due to viral fever on Tuesday, said Krishna Bahadur KC, chairman of the rural municipality.
The District Health Office (DHO) said around 1,200 people in the affected areas received treatment as of Wednesday.
Dr Pawan Shakya said they have collected mucus and sputum samples from the patients and sent them to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division in the Capital for lab test.
Health workers have been visiting every household in the affected areas to administer treatment to the sick.
More than 2,000 people in the rural municipality are ill affected, said KC.
DHO Chief Ram Bahadur Nepali said 13 health workers and two medical officers
have been mobilised in the affected areas to control the epidemic.
Meanwhile, District Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) has decided to conduct health camps at three locations in Luhadaha to treat the patients.
