Tajikistan has expressed interest to play a contributory role in the development of Nepal’s hydropower sector.
The interest was expressed by Mirzosharif Jololov, ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Nepal, during an interaction organised by the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs (AIDIA) in Kathmandu on Friday. Tajikistan is ranked eighth in the world in terms of hydropower potential, with current installed capacity standing at over 5,000 MW, according to a statement issued by the AIDIA. Ambassador Mirzosharif also said experience sharing and cooperation between tourism entrepreneurs of Nepal and Tajikistan could be another area for bilateral cooperation. (PR)
