Nepal and Bangladesh made winnings start in the 12th South Asian 7-A-Side football tournament that kicked off on Saturday at Lakeside in Pokhara. Nepal beat Bhutan 4-0 while Bangladesh blanked Maldives 16-0 in the inaugural day games.
Sunil BK netted twice in the first half for hosts Nepal while Sushil Lama also scored a brace after the break in the 50-minute game. Ashraf Ul and Uj All scored five goals apiece in Bangladesh’s rout of Maldives. Bangladesh netted 11 goals before the interval. The league-cum-knockout tournament features six teams of South Asia.
Nepal, India and Bhutan are in Group ‘A’ with Group ‘B’ consisting of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Maldives. (PR)
