In between songs, Nepathya’s frontman Amrit Gurung took the opportunity to comment on the ongoing political and social issues. ”Dr Govinda KC, who has been fighting for the health of all Nepalis needs our support,” Gurung appealed to the audience, and then the band performed Ralfa group’s famous revolutionary song, Gau Gau Bata Utha.
Alongside the revolutionary song, the band also entertained the audience by playing a selection from their 10 albums, such as Anganai Bhari, Himal Chuchure, and Koshiko Pani. “With the elections over, Nepalis have now voted and elected their leaders. If the leaders don’t use this prospect to give a stable government to the nation, the consequences will be different during the next elections,” Gurung remarked during the performance and then pled to the audience to become active at a grass root level, “When you see children in your neighborhood deprived from education, please help from your side so that everyone can go to school.”
On stage, Gurung was accompanied by Dhurba Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass, Niraj Gurung on guitars, and Shanti Rayamajhi on madal. The concert was part of the three city tour that has been organised to celebrate the band’s 25th anniversary. Nepathya had previously performed in Damak, and the band is slated to play in Bhairawaha on January 18.
