This product was created after studying the needs and purposes of farmers across India, Bangladesh and Nepal.
The company has also launched Mega T 15-DLX (key start, mobile charger), Mega T 15 RTH (for haulage and drawn applications), Mega T 15s (base model) variants to suit the needs of farmers.
This revolutionary product is being targeted at small and marginal farmers, reads a press release. They understand that farmers who have less than 2 hectare of land cannot afford expensive machines such as tractors but still require modern farming solutions to improve productivity. Mega T looks to fulfil that market.
According to the company, the Mega T is billed as a multi-applications machine that looks like a tiller but works like a tractor, where farmers can sit on the machine and operate in the field comfortably. It is suitable for both dry land and wet land applications.
Powering the Mega T is a high torque engine that provides more power and better back up torque with extra engine life. The engine is tuned to be fuel efficient and is ‘BS’ certified. The company has equipped advanced features—the first time in this category of machine—such as mid PTO (Power Take Off), certified driver seat and disc actuated brakes.
Other aspects such as balancing, safety features, tractor style
bonnet and more space for entry and exit allow easy working for the farmer.
The Mega T has received multiple awards since it was introduced such as CII—Industrial Innovation award, AIMA—Breakthrough product innovation award in R & D, Rural Marketing—Innovative Ideas for Rural Development, India Good Design Award. It also received the globally renowned Japan Good Design Award 2016, which is a global recognition award for good design.
Kirloskar manufactures the Mega T at the company’s new manufacturing site at Kagal, near Kolhapur, Maharashtra. The company has experience building a variety of quality of diesel and pumpsets powering more than 25 applications across five sectors, namely, farm mechanisation, pumpsets, industrial, agro industrial and marine.
The Mega T is now available in Nepal through 3S (sales, service and spares) dealers. These dealerships are empowered to extend their service at the farmer’s doorstep in an efficient manner. Dugar Brothers and Sons Pvt Ltd is the authorised dealer for Kirloskar products in Nepal.
Rajit Ghosh, associate vice president—Strategy, who attended the launch of the Mega T showroom at Bhaktapur said, “Kirloskar is focused on transforming farmer lives through innovative technology, products and delivery. I am very happy to introduce the most awarded Mega T in Nepal.”
